Today we will discuss core values and how they can help you live more intentionally and authentically. Core values are like a compass that guides your thoughts, behaviours, and decision-making. They are formed over time through your experiences, upbringing, culture, and personal beliefs.

Think of core values as the foundation of your personality and character. The underlying principles drive your actions and behaviours and reflect what you consider important and meaningful in life. "Today, let's dive into a discussion on core values, which serve as the compass guiding your thoughts, behaviours, and decision-making. These values are the result of your unique experiences, upbringing, culture, and personal beliefs, forming the foundation of your personality and character.

Let's consider this - if honesty is one of your core values, wouldn't you naturally lean towards being truthful and transparent in your interactions? Or, if you highly regard compassion, aren't you more inclined to empathize and show kindness towards others?

But what happens when we aren't clear about these core values? Well, interactions can become a maze. Take this scenario, for instance: you value honesty and someone lies to you. This situation might stir up feelings of anger or betrayal. But if you aren't aware that honesty is a core value, you might find yourself grappling with this distress, unsure of its source.

This lack of clarity can also breed misunderstandings with others whose values differ from yours. Imagine valuing punctuality, only to be continually kept waiting by someone who doesn't share this value. This discrepancy can lead to frustrations and tension, impacting your relationship.

That's why identifying and understanding your core values is such a powerful tool for personal growth and development. Once you have clarity on your values, they can guide your decisions and actions, helping you live a more authentic life. For instance, if health is a core value, you'd naturally prioritize your physical and mental well-being, choosing a balanced diet, regular exercise, and practising self-care.

 

 

Similarly, if someone else has a core value that conflicts with one of yours, it can lead to misunderstandings or even arguments. For example, if you value punctuality and someone else doesn't, it can lead to frustration and tension when waiting for them to show up. Without understanding that punctuality is essential to you, the other person may not realize why their behaviour is causing you stress.
